Marketing agency Midnight Oil has been acquired by Imagine Print Solutions, a visual marketing communications firm, it was announced Monday. The Burbank company, which produces original artwork for packaging, marketing materials and permanent displays, will continue to operate independently after its purchase by Imagine, in Minneapolis, while having access to Imagine’s design, production and fulfillment capabilities. Midnight Oil Chief Executive Tom Stillwell said the transaction will bring new markets and industry categories to the company. “With our larger and stronger infrastructure, we will delight our current client base and open the doors to many new opportunities,” Stillwell said in a prepared statement. Midnight Oil was founded in 2003 as an offshoot of LAGraphico, a family-owned printing company in Burbank that did packaging and images for entertainment, retail, telecommunications and gaming companies. In 2012, the two companies combined under the Midnight Oil banner. Imagine Print Solutions, founded in 1988, provides retailers and other consumer-oriented businesses with in-store and brand-based marketing materials. In January, the company was bought by Oak Hill Capital Partners, a New York private equity firm. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2016.
