Marketing Agency Lays Off 82 in Burbank

Merkle Group Inc. is laying off 82 employees from the Burbank location of its digital marketing operations. “The employee reductions in our Burbank office are a direct result of a discounted relationship with one client,” a Merkle spokesperson wrote in an email to the Business Journal. “We have no further comment to provide at this time.” The layoffs at the office at 3900 W. Alameda Ave. are effective Dec. 31, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice filed with the state Employment Development Department. Merkle Group, owned by Dentsu Aegis Network in London, is a data-driven marketing agency providing services to companies in acquiring and retaining customers, customer relationship management, customer loyalty marketing and creating personalized immersive experiences. Merkle is based in Columbia, Maryland.
