Universal Studios Hollywood Reopens to Public

After more than a year of closure caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Universal Studios Hollywood opened Friday for guests to visit the theme park’s rides and attractions, including the all-new “The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!” and “Jurassic World—The Ride.”The Universal City park, along with its counterpart in Orlando, Florida, shuttered doors last March, initially intending to be closed for approximately two weeks to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Restrictions later halted operations until this week.“We have been looking forward to this moment for over a year and are incredibly thrilled to reopen our theme park today,” Karen Irwin, president of Universal Studios Hollywood, said in a statement. “There is certainly lots to celebrate and we are overjoyed to return team members to work and welcome guests back to enjoy a Universal Studios Hollywood experience that is better than ever.”Annual and season pass holders were permitted to enter the park during a special preview day Thursday. On Friday the park is accepting a limited number of ticketed visitors with entry reservations. Guests must be California residents and parties are limited to guests from three households. Reservations are required until May 16. Ticket prices range from $99 to $279.In accordance with current guidelines, the park has implemented increased sanitation practices, temperature checks for guests, mask requirements and will keep some attractions temporarily closed.“It has been a very challenging year and we are overjoyed to have arrived at this moment,” Irwin said in her statement.
