Spielberg’s Amblin Selects COO

Steven Spielberg’s content creation firm Amblin Partners LLC, formerly DreamWorks Studios, has named a new chief operating officer and general counsel, the company announced Monday. Chris Floyd, who joined DreamWorks in 2007 and played a key role in the establishment of Amblin Partners in 2015, was promoted to the position from his post as general counsel and head of business affairs. He will continue to lead the company’s business and legal affairs in addition to assuming oversight of international distribution and various other operations of the firm. Amblin Partners offices are on the lot of Universal Studios in Universal City. “Chris has been an integral part of our team for many years and his superb judgment and wise counsel have served us incredibly well,” Chief Executive Michael Wright and President and co-Chief Executive Jeff Small said in a prepared statement. Floyd’s career in entertainment law has included oversight of business affairs at Universal Studios Inc., Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and Paramount Pictures Corp. Previously, he served as an associate entertainment litigator at the law offices of Hill Wynne Troop & Meisinger, where he represented a number of major entertainment companies including Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp. and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
