Spielberg Takes CEO Role at Amblin Partners

Steven Spielberg has taken over the role of chief executive at his production company Amblin Partners following the resignation of Michael Wright. Wright, who had been head of Amblin since its founding in 2015, will become executive producer of two of the company’s upcoming films. Spielberg, who serves as chairman of the Universal City-based production house, expressed his gratitude to Wright for helping to launch the company and creating a strong foundation for the future. “I am very pleased to continue our relationship and that he is joining our upcoming projects, ‘The Talisman’ and ‘The Wand,’ as an executive producer,” Spielberg said in a prepared statement. Jeff Small remains president and co-chief executive and along with Spielberg will oversee the company’s operations. Investors in Amblin include Universal Filmed Entertainment, in Universal City; Participant Media in Los Angeles; Reliance Entertainment in Mumbai, India; Entertainment One in Toronto, and Alibaba Pictures Group in China.
