Report: Iger Considers Run for White House

Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Robert Iger is considering a run for the presidency, according to media reports. Iger has told friends he is thinking of running for the Oval Office in 2020, according to Hollywood Reporter, the entertainment trade publication. Iger has headed up the Burbank entertainment and media giant since late 2005 and is set to retire in June next year. However, Iger has dropped hints that he might stay on past that date if the company has not found a replacement. In a June interview with the Reporter, Iger said that a lot of people had urged him to seek political office but he did not specifically address running for the White House. Sources told the Reporter that Iger had consulted with former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who himself made the jump from business to politics. Iger, as well, has friends high in the Democratic Party, including former vice president and 2000 presidential nominee Al Gore, with whom Iger serves on the board of Apple Inc.
