Walt Disney Co. has introduced a new mobile app to offer guests at its theme parks shorter wait times for a fee, according to media reports.The Burbank entertainment company's Disney Genie+ app will cost $15 per day at Walt Disney World in Florida and $20 a day at Disneyland in Anaheim. The app will work on most attractions, with details and more app features to come later this year.
Also, the FastPass and MaxPass programs will be retired at Disneyland."Pairing incredible technology with more than 60 years of expertise about how our guests visit the parks, Disney Genie will personalize their Disney day, allowing guests to spend less time planning and waiting and more time doing the things they love," Josh D'Amaro, chairman of Disney parks, experiences and product division, said in a statement.Shares of Disney (DIS) closed Wednesday down $1.09, or a fraction of a percent, to $174.74 on the New York Stock Exchange.
