Salem Sponsors ‘Mid-Term Madness’ Political Fantasy Game

Salem Media Group Inc.’s radio show host Hugh Hewitt will launch Mid-Term Madness, a fantasy game allowing listeners to select who they think will win key races in the Nov. 6 elections, the company announced Wednesday. The Camarillo broadcaster and publisher of Christian and conservative content said the promotion will work like basketball brackets or fantasy football, except instead of choosing teams or players, participants will choose political candidates. The game begins Sept. 10. The winner will fly to Washington, D.C. to co-host a radio show with Hewitt. “I’ve been a fan of fantasy football leagues for years, but this is the first time anybody has figured out how to apply those basic rules to a national election,” Hewitt said in a statement. Loyal Ears Digital, a company with experience in fantasy sports leagues, will monitor the game and ensure fair play and accuracy. “This element of listener engagement has never been tried before, but the Hugh Hewitt show is the perfect platform to make this work,” Salem Senior Vice President Phil Boyce said in a statement. Shares of Salem (SALM) closed Wednesday up 5 cents, or 1.3 percent, to $3.80 on the Nasdaq.
