Van Nuys Manufacturer to Cut 155 Jobs

Clover Imaging Group will eliminate 155 positions from its Van Nuys location as it consolidates its production and packaging operations closer to its manufacturing centers. This round of job cuts is effective Oct. 17, according to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed this month with the state Employment Development Department. This is the third layoff in the past 18 months at the plant, which remanufactures used printer toner cartridges. In April of last year, the company cut 205 positions by eliminating its second shift; six months later another 115 were let go. Clover, in Hoffman Estates, Ill., acquired the Van Nuys plant in July 2014 when it had been owned by Micro Solutions Enterprises, or MSE. The plant had been operating under the MSE name until February 2016 when it became Clover’s California operation. The Van Nuys facility will remain open, the company said in a statement. “The distribution, research and development, and other customer support and administrative support teams in Van Nuys will not be affected and these changes will have no impact on our customers,” the statement said.
