Trio-Tech Improves in Third Quarter

Trio Tech International Inc. improved its net income during its fiscal first quarter even though revenue decreased slightly. The Van Nuys semiconductor testing service and equipment manufacturer reported Monday net income of $377,000 (8 cents a share) for the quarter ended Sept. 30, compared with a net loss of $80,000 (-4 cents) in the same period a year earlier. Revenue decreased by 2 percent to $7.9 million. No analysts follow the company. Chief Executive S.W. Yong said the financial results of high product sales offset by lower testing service revenue reflect fluctuations in the semiconductor industry “We continue to focus on value creation for both our customers and our shareholders,” Yong said in a prepared statement. “This is the foundation for the improved bottom-line performance Trio-Tech has delivered for shareholders in the past several quarters.” Shares closed up 9 cents, or just less than 4 percent, to $2.61 on the New York Stock Exchange.
