Southest Asian Country Buys AeroVironment’s Raven Drones

AeroVironment Inc. has received a contract valued at $6.4 million from a Southeast Asian military customer for additional Raven unmanned aircraft. The Simi Valley drone manufacturer will deliver the Raven aircraft within the next 12 months. Rick Pedigo, vice president of sales and business development at AeroVironment, called the Raven a mainstay for the military of the unnamed country placing the order. He added that the drone gives troops closest to the fight immediate eyes in the sky to gain lifesaving situational awareness anywhere and at any time. “Raven’s ruggedness, small footprint and sensor capabilities ensure that allied forces throughout the world have a profound advantage at a moment’s notice in the most extreme environments,” Pedigo said in a statement. The company made the announcement Monday. Shares of AeroVironment (AVAV) closed Tuesday up 65 cents, or 1.1 percent, to $59.60 on the Nasdaq.
