Dole Food Co. has sold two of its European subsidiaries to Norwegian produce distributer Bama Group for an undisclosed price, the Westlake Village agribusiness announced Thursday. The sale of Saba Fresh Cuts AB and Saba Fresh Cuts OY is expected to close early next year, pending approval from the European Union. The companies sell salads and vegetables to retailers and the foodservice industry in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany and the Baltic States. Regulators required Dole to sell Saba Fresh Cuts AB as a condition of Irish wholesaler Total Produce plc’s investment in Dole in July. “I am very pleased with the outcome of this sale in meeting the EU’s requirement,” Dole Chief Executive Johan Linden said in a statement. “I am confident that Saba Fresh Cuts will be in good hands under Bama’s ownership.”
