(Editor’s Note: This is a corrected version of a story published Nov. 29.) Vitamin manufacturer Natrol on Nov. 28 announced the appointment of Tom Zimmerman as its new chief executive. The Chatsworth company has produced health supplements for more than 35 years and has such brands as Natrol, Prolab and NuHair under its umbrella. Zimmerman brings more than 20 years of experience in the vitamin and packaged goods industries to Natrol and plans on further developing its brands and expanding its product offerings. His last position was with Allegan, Mich.-based Perrigo, which makes over-the-counter drugs, and he has also served in leadership roles at Pharmavite of Northridge and Dial Corp. of Scottsdale, Ariz. Zimmerman is tasked with continuing the company’s turnaround after a few years filled with uncertainty and drastic changes. In 2013, the company was hit with a class action lawsuit, alleging false advertising. As a result, Natrol filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in June 2014. “It’s my mission to take the company into a new phase of growth by focusing on building our brands and delivering innovative and effective new products that help our consumers manage their overall health and daily wellness in the context of their very busy lives,” said Zimmerman in a statement.
