Sigifredo Gurrola Barrientos of Sylmar was sentenced Monday to nearly 20 years in federal prison for managing “Manny’s Delivery Service,” a drug distribution ring posing as a delivery company in Van Nuys. The outfit maintained a fleet of cars and staff of drivers to deliver pound quantities of heroin and cocaine to customers and street-level dealers throughout the San Fernando Valley. Prosecutors allege Barrientos obtained wholesale quantities of drugs, arranged for the storage and transportation of drugs and cash, kept sales ledgers on the illegal transactions, managed employees and organized the fleet of vehicles. When law enforcement broke up the ring in December 2017, they discovered a Van Nuys stash house containing 11.5 pounds of heroin, 1.1 pounds of cocaine and $434,327 in cash. Barrientos ran the operation between 2013 and 2017. He was the lead defendant in an indictment that charged him and 13 others with drug-related offenses. He pleaded guilty in April 2018 to one felony count of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances. Other defendants received sentences of up to eight years in prison. The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Ventura County Narcotics Task Force and the Los Angeles and Glendale Police Departments. Sentences were made by District Judge Percy Anderson. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Carley Palmer and Christopher Kendall.
