Shares of Capstone Turbine Corp. jumped 27 percent Wednesday after the Van Nuys company announced it secured an order to upgrade multiple microturbines for Florida-based Benz Research & Development. Benz, which researches optical polymers for contact lenses, ordered the upgrade to lower its carbon footprint. “Capstone believes that the key to our long-term success is helping businesses like Benz Research & Development meet their individual needs while being socially responsible,” said Darren Jamison, chief executive of Capstone, in a statement. Capstone rose 16 cents, or 27 percent, to close Wednesday at 76 cents on the Nasdaq.
