Capstone Green Energy Corp. has completed the build-out of its United Kingdom facility south of London. The Van Nuys microturbine manufacturer said on Monday the expansion at the U.K. Integrated Remanufacturing Facility will allow for the building and testing of Capstone C200 microturbines. The facility started in 2009 as a 3,000-square-foot warehouse for aftermarket parts and a hub for field support. The expansion to a 19,000-square-foot integrated remanufacturing facility makes it capable of serving the Europe, Middle East and Africa region with Capstone’s flagship product, the company said in a release.Chief Executive Darren Jamison said that continuing to invest in the facility is critical to Capstone’s goals to reduce freight dependency and offset manufacturing costs.“By adding complex remanufacturing processes, the U.K. facility now mirrors the Capstone U.S.-based testing facilities. These capabilities will accelerate Capstone’s ability to provide parts and services,” Jamison said in a statement. The added floor space will accommodate a state-of-the-art training classroom for regional distributors. It will reduce travel costs while helping them stay product-current and maintain vital coverage, the company said.Shares of Capstone closed Monday down by 7 cents, or 1.7 percent, to $4.17 on the Nasdaq, on a day when that market closed down a fraction of a percent.
