Avery Dennison Opens Research Center

Avery Dennison Corp. has opened an Electronics Solutions and Technology Center in Santa Clara, the company announced Tuesday. The Glendale company, which makes labels and packing materials, said the facility is designed to provide solutions and services to the company’s clients in the electronics industry. The 6,000-square-foot center includes training and lab areas where Avery Dennison engineers and scientists can work side-by-side with customers’ engineering teams. Staff at the facility will work to create rapid prototypes of new adhesives, carriers, liners and lamination equipment. Testing of potential new products will also occur at the site. “Avery Dennison’s investment in facilities, equipment and human resources reflects the business potential we see in the electronics sector for high-performance adhesive tapes,” Dr. Robert Medsker, senior director of global research and development at Avery Dennison, said in a statement. “Look for Avery Dennison to emerge as a key supplier to electronics manufacturers worldwide, and a preferred source for problem solving and technical support.” Shares of Avery Dennison (AVY) closed Tuesday down 42 cents, or a fraction of a percent, to $83.71 on the New York Stock Exchange.
