California Resources Corp. announced Monday the appointment of Chris Gould as the company’s first ever chief sustainability officer.The Santa Clarita-based oil company’s new appointment previously worked at Exelon, serving as senior vice president of corporate strategy and chief innovation and sustainability officer for more than a decade.“Bringing Chris on board reflects the importance of our ESG (environmental, social and governance) initiatives and our commitment to decarbonization and a realistic energy transition,” Mac McFarland, chief executive of California Resources Corp., said in a statement. “His considerable leadership skills and experience in climate change and implementation of new technologies will help the company deliver on our goals while maintaining ESG leadership.”Shares of California Resources Corp. (CRC) closed Monday down 25 cents, or a fraction of a percent, to $33.03 on the New York Stock Exchange on a day when the Dow Jones closed down a fraction of a percent.
