A subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies Inc. has acquired an electronic test and measurement business, the company announced Wednesday. Terms of the deal between Teledyne LeCroy Inc., in Chestnut Ridge, N.Y., and Quantum Data Inc., in Elgin, Ill., were not disclosed. The deal is expected to close this month. Teledyne LeCroy is owned by Teledyne Technologies in Thousand Oaks. Quantum Data specializes in making what’s called video protocol analysis test tools, which are used by engineers to troubleshoot data communication systems and test devices. This is the second acquisition this month by Teledyne of a test and measurement business. Last week it announced it was buying Frontline Test Equipment, in Charlottesville, Va., a manufacturer of equipment that intercepts, logs traffic and analyzes data that passes over digital wireless networks. Teledyne Chief Executive Robert Mehrabian said both transactions will bolster recognition of Teledyne LeCroy as a leader in test products. “Specifically, Teledyne LeCroy is already a market leader in protocol test tools for well-known serial data standards and through Quantum Data and Frontline, we will also provide products serving Bluetooth and Wi-Fi,” Mehrabian said in a prepared statement. Teledyne shares closed up $2.28 or 2.6 percent to $91.04 on the New York Stock Exchange.
