SC Labs, a cannabis and hemp testing company, announced on Wednesday that it was expanding into Southern California with a new location in Van Nuys.
The 12,000-square-foot facility will offer both compliance cannabis testing and research and development resources – similar to its Santa Cruz counterpart, where the company is based.
The new lab will offer a full suite of California compliance testing – potency, pesticides, heavy metals, residual solvents, microbials, water activity, filth and foreign material – as well as terpene and shelf stability testing, according to a release from SC Labs.
The lab will provide faster turnaround times to process samples for customers south of Santa Barbara, according to the company release.
Jeff Journey, chief executive of SC Labs, said the company was thrilled to bring its testing expertise to a greater swath of the state as the market continues to mature and grow.
“With this expansion, we are doubling down on California as a leading market that we believe has the regulatory oversight to enforce proper testing requirements,” Journey said in a statement.
In addition to L.A. and Santa Cruz, SC Labs currently has cannabis testing labs Colorado, Michigan and Oregon and will open two more soon in Arizona and New York. It also has a hemp testing lab in Colorado.
