Apex Global Brands announced last week several licensing agreements that will widen the availability of its Tony Hawk clothing brand. The apparel and footwear company based in Sherman Oaks inked a deal with Star Ride Kids, a children’s clothing manufacturer based in New York, to make Tony Hawk brand clothing and accessories for boys. “We are pleased to team up with Star Ride Kids to drive product category expansion for Tony Hawk. We look forward to building a successful, long-term partnership,” said Chief Executive Henry Stupp in a statement. The company also signed a deal to debut the higher-end Tony Hawk Signature Line collection in New York City streetwear stores Reign and 10 Corso Cosmo. This deal, effective Aug. 29, marks the first time the signature line has been available for purchase in stores in the U.S. The collection comprises t-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts featuring images of Hawk shot by renowned photographer Anton Corbijn. Items are also available on Reign’s website. The signature line debuted in Europe, the Middle East and Africa earlier this year through a licensing agreement with Batra Group, an apparel sourcing, licensing and distribution enterprise based in London. The Tony Hawk brand is part of Apex’s brand management portfolio that also includes Liz Lange, Cherokee, Hi-Tec, Magnum and 50 Peaks. The skateboarding-meets-streetwear line previously gained traction with placements in Urban Outfitters, Macy’s, Kohl’s and Foot Locker stores. Shares of Apex (APEX) closed Tuesday at 65 cents on the Nasdaq.
