The Ventura County Medical Center on Memorial Day weekend hosted its 50th anniversary celebration and alumni reunion for the Family Medicine Residency Program, according to a statement from the organization. The event kicked off with a welcome reception in the center’s Healing Garden, complete with spa water and light refreshments. VCMC also led tours of its new North Tower wing, including a look at surgical suites, as well as the academic library for the Family Medicine Residency Program. Saturday’s educational conferences included alumni as speakers: Dr. John Fankhauser, class of 1993, presented “Global Health: Family Medicine’s Role in the Aftermath of Liberia’s Ebola Crisis,” and Dr. John Prichard, class of 1981, spoke about “Earth, Wind and Fire: Adaptation of a Deep Mycosis.”
