Providence Southern California has joined Anthem Blue Cross’s Vivity Health Plan as a joint venture partner, bolstering plan options in Los Angeles and Orange counties.Vivity is an HMO product for employer groups in Southern California.
In the Valley region, Providence has hospitals in Burbank, Mission Hills and Tarzana.According to Anthem, the joint venture marks the first expansion since the health plan launched in 2015. Vivity members now have access to Providence’s 746 primary care physicians, 2,800 specialists and nine hospitals in both counties.“Vivity is the first-in-the-nation joint venture between a health plan and like-minded health systems,” Anthem said in a statement, adding that the plan “utilizes a unique provider reimbursement structure that includes shared savings from community risk pools.”Vivity’s founding nonprofit health systems include Cedars-Sinai, Huntington Hospital, MemorialCare Health System, PIH Health, Torrance Memorial Medical Center and UCLA Health, Anthem said. All joint venture partners share equal ownership in organization governance.Also, Anthem is contracting with Valencia’s Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, but not as a joint venture partner, the insurance company said in its statement.
