The California Association of Physician Groups released the results of a Standard of Excellence self-assessment survey of its medical group members, the association announced Friday. Eighty medical groups participated in the association’s fourth annual survey, according to a statement released by the association. The medical groups were evaluated in four categories: care management practices, health information technology, accountability and transparency and patient-centered care. Heritage Provider Groups, Facey Medical Foundation and Permanente Medical Group – North and South – were among 25 responding organizations to receive an “elite” status, according to the survey results. An “elite” status means the medical group surpassed the threshold in all four categories. Fourteen organizations qualified for “exemplary” performance, meaning they surpassed the threshold in three categories, the statement said. “CAPG is proud of the outstanding performance of our member physician groups,” Donald Crane, the association’s president and CEO, said in the statement. “These organizations have set rigorous goals and standards for themselves and for the care they provide.” Jessica Selva
