Avita Medical Names New CFO

Avita Medical has named David McIntyre as the company’s new chief financial officer. McIntyre will assume his role effective Monday, overseeing global finance and investor relations from the regenerative medicine company’s Valencia office. The company’s former interim chief financial officer, Tim Rooney, will continue his role as chief administrative officer. Avita Medical makes and sells its Recell System, which helps patients regrow skin after burns or other injuries. McIntyre has more than 20 years of experience in senior financial, legal and operational roles, most recently serving as partner with Apple Tree Partners. He helped the multibillion-dollar venture equity fund build its portfolio with medical device companies, Avita said. “David’s extensive background in global finance, operations and law, in combination with his experience as a senior executive and corporate advisor with life sciences and device companies listed on multiple stock exchanges, strengthens our leadership team at a pivotal time,” Dr. Mike Perry, chief executive of Avita, said in a statement. “I want to thank Tim for his service as interim CFO and am delighted to have David on board as we position the company for continued growth, building on the successful U.S. commercial launch of the Recell System and further developing our pipeline across multiple indications.” The announcement comes a week after the company unveiled a $120 million institutional placement to fund clinical trials and continued U.S. commercial growth.
