Westminster Free Clinic, a heart health clinic in Thousand Oaks, was one of 11 clinics in the U.S. to receive a grant from AstraZeneca HealthCare Foundation’s Connections to Cardiovascular Health program. The Conejo Valley clinic received a grant for $50,000, according to a statement from AstraZeneca on Tuesday. Westminster focuses on serving low-income Latinos at risk for heart disease with volunteer-based health and prevention services. “With this funding, we can help them carry on their work and share their impact with other nonprofit organizations that we hope will benefit additional communities for years to come,” said Rich Buckley, president of the AstraZeneca HealthCare Foundation. The non-profit branch of AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals awarded a total of $775,000 to community-based clinics this year. Since 2010, the foundation has awarded more than $23.7 million in grants to 52 organizations nationwide.
