Providence St. Joseph Reorganizes SoCal Operations

Providence St. Joseph Health announced today that Erik Wexler will lead the combined hospital network of Providence Health & Services in Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino counties. Wexler will now head the newly created PSJH Southern California Region, which consist of 14 hospitals, 26 urgent care centers and other health services. Previously, Wexler served as chief executive of the Los Angele Region. The company said Wexler will work on a transition plan with Richard Afable, chief executive of Orange County region, who will retire in December. PSJH currently has three hospitals in the Valley region: Providence Tarzana Medical Center, Providence Holy Cross in Mission Hills and Providence St. Joseph in Burbank. The company also announced that Kevin Manemann, chief executive for the St. Joseph Health physician network for California, will oversee the entire state along with New Mexico and Texas networks. “As one region, we will substantially strengthen our footprint, forming a continuous network of care that spans three major counties,” says Wexler. “This new region will bring together the talents of many caregivers, greatly expand access to services and allow us to work together to more effectively meet the needs of our most vulnerable populations.” Providence St. Joseph Health was formed last year as a result of merger between Providence Health & Services and St. Joseph Health.
