Fifteen thousand workers in California – including more than 700 in Northridge – have ratified a new contract with Dignity Health, according to Service Employees International Union – United Healthcare Workers West. Under the agreement, workers will receive 13 percent raises spread over five years; will get a 1 percent bonus in the second year; will maintain fully paid, employer-provided family health care; and will maintain their benefit pensions. The new contract covers 694 workers at Northridge Hospital Medical Center and 33 workers at Dignity Health Medical Group, also in Northridge, according to the union. In December 2017, Dignity Health of San Francisco announced plans to merge with Catholic Health Initiatives in Chicago. The combined nonprofit would own 139 hospitals in 28 states. In the greater Valley region, Dignity owns Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center and Northridge Hospital Medical Center.
