Hilton Foundation Awards $2 Million Prize

The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation in Agoura Hills has given the world’s largest humanitarian award to an Atlanta nonprofit. The foundation announced Tuesday that the Task Force for Global Health would receive the $2 million prize. The organization works in 151 countries through programs on tropical diseases, vaccines, public health informatics and health workforce development. “The organization and its partners roll up their sleeves and solve massive global health problems, and they do it without fanfare,” Hilton Foundation Chief Executive Peter Laugharn said in a statement. “This is an organization that, with its partners, is on track to help eliminate three diseases in the next decade.” The Hilton Foundation, named for the founder of the Hilton hotel chain, is the largest nonprofit in the Valley region with 2015 assets of $2.4 billion, according to the Business Journal’s 2016 Book of Lists.
