Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Valencia opened its six-story, 163,000-square-foot tower to patients last weekend and on the same day welcomed the first baby boy and girl to the Center for Women and Newborns. “Moving into our new Center for Women and Newborns made for an exciting day,” Lori Matzner, director for the Center for Women and Newborns and Maternal Child Health Services at Henry Mayo, said in a statement. “We look forward to welcoming many, many more babies in the months and years to come.” Jameson Arthur Stairs was born at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, to parents Garrett and Elizabeth Stairs. Natalie Chen was born to Chen Chen and Xianan Ding at 3:21 p.m. the same day. The center occupies the second floor of the $164 million tower, which also houses two surgical suites, Henry Mayo said in a statement. Floors three through five have 90 private rooms for medical and surgical patients, and the tower basement offers a new kitchen and café with outdoor dining. The first floor contains the Robert M. and Andi Parker Blood Bank.
