Eyenuk Inc., a Woodland Hills biotech company focused on screening technology for diabetic retinopathy, has partnered with Devlyn Optical to bring its services in-store. Devlyn Optical operates retail eye-glass locations in California and Texas, according to its website. The retailer is a spin-off of Grupo Devlyn, a multinational optical company with more than a thousand stores in the U.S., Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador. “This partnership with Devlyn Optical enables us to expand our footprint in the optical retail setting where millions of patrons can benefit from onsite (diabetic retinopathy) screening,” said Dr. Kaushal Solanki, founder and chief executive of Eyenuk. The company’s EyeScreen Human + AI Diagnostic service assesses retinal images via an AI system and then a “specialist human grader” before being sent to a physician for review. “With this exciting collaboration with Eyenuk, Devlyn will be able to expand our service from vision care to diabetes-related eye care, in a convenient and safe manner for both people with diabetes and eye care professionals,” added Jesse Devlyn Jr., chief executive of Devlyn Optical.
