Jewish Home Opens Brandman Research Institute

Reseda’s Los Angeles Jewish Home opened a new research facility for geriatric health issues, the facility announced Monday. The Brandman Research Institute, named after the home’s supporter Joyce Brandman and her late husband, Saul, will comprise an interdisciplinary team of health care professionals dedicated to developing new standards and models of care for older adults. Dr. Noah Marco, chief medical officer at the Jewish Home, will serve as executive director for the institute. Research projects and treatments will be sought to improve and enhance medical, social, psychiatric and psychological services for seniors. Its first study will focus on effective models for post-acute care. “The L.A. Jewish Home has provided 107 years of outstanding programs and services for seniors. With the formation of BRI, the home will identify and promote new and more effective models of care to enhance the quality of life for a growing aging population,” Molly Forrest, chief executive, said in a statement. “Clinical studies often exclude older people. We are directly studying this segment of the population with an eye on improving the individual senior as well as the overall models of care,” added Marco. The Brandman Research Institute is located in the Eisenberg-Keefer Medical Center on the Grancell Village Campus at 7150 Tampa Ave. in Reseda.
