MannKind Sponsors Indy 500 Racer

MannKind Corp. will be sponsoring race car driver Conor Daly when he debuts with the Andretti Autosport team at the Indy 500 in May. Daly, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 14, aims to raise awareness of diabetes treatment options through his racing career, according to a release from MannKind in Westlake Village. The company makes Afrezza, an inhalable insulin to treat diabetes. Daly’s first race will be the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 26. MannKind is an associate sponsor of Andretti Autosport for this race and will partner with Daly on his No. 25 U.S. Air Force Honda. “We are excited to be associated with Conor and Andretti Autosport for the Indy 500 and look forward to a partnership where we can help educate people on treatment options for managing their diabetes,” Michael Castagna, chief executive for MannKind, said in a statement. As an associate sponsor, MannKind will host events and experiences to build awareness of diabetes treatment; events will center around Daly and his story.
