Facey Medical Foundation to ‘Transfer’ 94 Employees

Facey Medical Foundation, an affiliate of Providence Health and Services, issued a statement June 5 that it will lay off 94 employees from its Mission Hills location, but they will be rehired by a contractor. The employees are expected to work through Aug. 5, according to a notice sent by the foundation to the California Employment Development Department. “These 94 employees are being transferred to the employ of a company called MediRevv, which is recognized for expertise in managing the medical revenue cycle,” David Mast, chief executive of the Providence St. Joseph Health Medical Foundations, said in an email statement. “Providence St. Joseph Health invests in MediRevv, which currently handles the revenue cycle for our Orange County physician organization. The company will work in the same space at Facey where these employees now sit.” The representative went on to say that the health care organization sometimes partners with outside organizations to better focus on providing health care. Affected positions include 49 from accounts receivable, three from administration and 16 from the patient financial services department. Facey Medical has clinics in the San Fernando, Santa Clarita, Simi and San Gabriel valleys.
