Former Wal-Mart Exec Joins Amgen Board

Amgen Inc. on Friday announced it has appointed Charles Holley, the former chief financial officer of Wal-Mart Stores Inc., to its board of directors. Holley, 60, started at Wal-Mart in 1994 and worked his way up through the financial ranks to company treasurer. Then in 2010, he was appointed chief financial officer, a role he served in until 2015. “Charles Holley brings deep financial and organizational experience from one of the world’s largest and most successful companies,” Amgen Chief Executive Robert Bradway said in a statement. “We welcome Charles to Amgen’s board as we work to shape an exciting future.” Last week, the Thousand Oaks biotech also reported strong fourth quarter earnings and finished out fiscal year 2016 with $23 billion in revenue, up 6 percent from 2015. Amgen shares closed Monday down 95 cents, or less than a percent, to $166.58 on the Nasdaq.
