Avita Medical has appointed three new leaders to its management team at its Valencia headquarters. Donna Shiroma, an attorney for the pharmaceutical industry, will serve as the medical device maker’s general council, while medical products sales veteran Terry Bromley is the new vice president of commercial operations. Also, Debbie Garner, former marketing director for dermatology at Botox-maker Allergan, is Avita’s vice president of global marketing. Avita also announced that it had promoted Dr. Katie Bush to vice president of medical affairs. Bush previously was director of medical affairs at Avita, prior to which she held management roles at Integra Life Sciences and TEI Medical Inc. in Boston. The new hires were made as the company prepares to launch sales of its “Recell” device in the U.S., Chief Executive Dr. Michael Perry said in a statement. “These leaders and their respective teams join Avita Medical at an exciting time,” Perry said. “[We] look forward to benefiting from their experience.” Avita also recently took over a 20,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Ventura to house forthcoming production of the product, which uses a patient’s skin cells to regenerate skin damaged by burns. Avita expects the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to approve Recell in the third quarter.
