Chandra Subramaniam is the new dean of the Nazarian College of Business & Economics at California State University – Northridge. Subramaniam started the job on March 1. Prior to coming to CSUN, he served at the University of Texas at Arlington as interim dean of the college of business, associate dean of students and programs, assistant and associate professor and chair of the accounting department. He was also an assistant professor in accounting at Texas Christian University for 10 years. The 64-year-old Subramaniam, a native of Malaysia, said in an interview with the Business Journal that he came to the San Fernando Valley university because he liked what the Nazarian school has been doing with its entrepreneur and small business institute programs. Also, he was interested in working with the type of student that attends the university, Subramaniam said. “It is very similar to what we had at the University of Texas at Arlington,” he added. “It is a very diverse student body. A majority of the students work. They are coming in as transfer students or are first generation college bound.” Read the full interview with Subramaniam in the April 2 issue of the Business Journal.
