Preview: Workers’ Comp Worries Valley

A state order has created workers’ compensation benefits for employees who contract COVID-19. Workers who contract the virus within 14 days of “performing a labor or service at a place of work” from March 19 to July 6 are eligible for worker’s comp benefits, according to a statement from Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office. “It’s a scary time for employers,” Stuart Waldman, president of the Valley Industry & Commerce Association, told the Business Journal. “The government is essentially putting the responsibility on business, whether their employees catch it at work or not.” Read the full story in the June 8 issue of the San Fernando Valley Business Journal.
