Burbank Names Interim City Manager

The city of Burbank has reached a tentative agreement with Burbank Water and Power General Manager Ron Davis to serve as interim city manager until a permanent job-holder is selected. The city council still needs to vote Jan. 26 to approve an employment agreement with Davis, but Mayor Bob Frutos said the council was unanimous in choosing Davis for the job. “We believe Ron Davis and Assistant City Manager Justin Hess form an outstanding team with the ideal experience to guide the City through the upcoming budget process and leadership transition,” Frutos said in a statement. Current City Manager Mark Scott previously announced plans to retire in February, and the council has voted to hire a search firm to recruit replacement candidates. Meanwhile, Davis will earn the same salary he currently earns at Burbank Water and Power, the city-owned utility. Davis began working for Burbank in 1998 as general manager of the utility, where he oversees a $316 million annual budget and supervises a workforce of 340 people.
