Greig Smith Returns to L.A. City Council

Former Los Angeles City Councilman Greig Smith has returned to represent the West San Fernando Valley as of Tuesday. The Council unanimously approved installing Smith to represent the 12th Council District. He replaces Mitch Englander, who resigned as of Jan. 1 to take a position with sports and entertainment company Oak View Group as executive vice president of government affairs. Smith represented the 12th District on the Council from 2003 to 2011. He will serve until a special election takes place, although Smith said he will not be a candidate in that race. It was an honor that the Council entrusted him with the responsibility of representing the Valley once again, Smith said. “The interests of the communities that comprise the 12th Council District can be served in Council until the results of a special election are confirmed.” he added in a statement.
