Earnings: Salem Media, B. Riley, MannKind

Salem Media Group in Camarillo reported net income of less than $1.3 million (7 cents a share) for the second quarter compared to nearly $3.6 million (13 cents) in the same quarter a year ago. Revenue decreased 2.5 percent to $66.1 million from $67.8 million last year. Analysts on average expected net income of 8 cents a share on revenue of $67.1 million, according to Thomson Financial Network. Salem (SALM), a Christian and conservative content radio broadcaster and publisher, announced results after the market closed. Shares closed Monday down 5 cents or less than 1 percent to $7 on the Nasdaq. B. Riley Financial Inc. in Woodland Hills reported second-quarter net income of $3.3 million (15 cents a share), compared to a net loss of $101,000 (-1 cent) for the same quarter a year ago. Quarterly revenue more than tripled to $66.7 million, compared to $20.3 million for the same quarter last year. No analysts follow the financial brokerage and investment bank. B. Riley (RILY) announced results after the market closed. Shares closed Monday down 10 percent or less than 1 percent to $18.35 on the Nasdaq. MannKind Corp. in Valencia reported a net loss in the second quarter of $35.3 million (-35 cents a share), compared to a loss of $30 million (-33 cents) for the same quarter a year ago. Revenue totaled $2.2 million, with another $2.6 million worth of Afrezza, the company’s inhalable insulin, shipped but not recognized as revenue during the quarter. The one analyst who covers the company expected a loss of 25 cents on revenue of $2 million, according to Thomson Financial Network. Revenue from Afrezza sales grew 60 percent compared to the first quarter of 2017, the company reported. MannKind (MNKD) announced results after the market closed. Shares closed Monday down 5 cents or 4.1 percent to $1.17 on the Nasdaq.
