BlackLine Inc. has promoted Patrick Villanova to chief accounting officer, the company announced Thursday. In his new role, Villanova will drive transformation internally at the Woodland Hills accounting software developer using BlackLine’s products. He had previously been corporate controller since 2015 and led the company’s accounting function through an initial public offering in 2016. Digital financial transformation is becoming a key agenda items for accounting organizations like BlackLine, Villanova said. “Companies that realize that new technologies have the potential to transform the accountant’s role and relationship with the rest of the business are those that will be most successful,” he added in a statement. Shares of BlackLine (BL) closed up 14 cents, or less than a percent, to $46.48 on the Nasdaq.
