Westlake Village Startup Makes Pepperdine’s List of Most Fundable Companies

Westlake Village’s Giftz was among the 15 most fundable companies, as ranked by the Graziadio Business School at Pepperdine University in Malibu. According to a statement Friday from Pepperdine, Giftz is an online platform where shoppers can liquidate points, miles and eGift cards for cash or exchange between programs. Pepperdine’s second-annual list showcases promising startup companies that have less than $10 million in annual revenue, strong business plans and concrete growth projections, according to a statement from the school. “The Most Fundable Companies initiative is designed to help exceptional entrepreneurs secure the visibility they need with the investment community as well as help angel and venture capital investors identify startups that are worthy of investment,” Craig Everett, assistant professor of finance and director of the Pepperdine Private Capital Markets Project, said in a statement. More than 3,500 startups in 46 states participated in the initiative this year. Enertiv, a New York-based real estate technology company, ranked No. 1 on Pepperdine’s list; five other California startups also made the top 15. “We’re proud that companies named to the list last year so far have raised close to $17 million in aggregate,” Everett added. Pepperdine’s Graziadio Business School has seven locations in the Los Angeles area, including satellite classrooms in Encino and Calabasas.
