Research Solutions Inc. has appointed investment banker Chad Cooper to its board, the company announced Wednesday. The Encino company operates Reprints Desk, which provides on-demand access to scientific, technical and medical journals for research organizations. In the most recent quarter, it lost $300,000, or 2 cents a share. Cooper is chief executive of merchant bank Digital Offering and portfolio manager at DO Capital Management, an investment fund that focuses on undervalued microcap companies. He previously served as partner at Roth Capital Partners in Los Angeles. Also, Cooper sits on the boards of ARI Network Services Inc., YouMail Inc. and nonprofit Wings for Crossover. “Chad will play a key role in Research Solutions’ future endeavors and efforts to build shareholder value,” Chief Executive Peter Derycz said in a statement. “We are excited that Chad has agreed to join Research Solutions’ board of directors, bringing with him his knowledge, strategic expertise, and significant experience in financial services and capital markets.” Shares closed down 3 cents or 3.4 percent to 85 cents on the over-the-counter market.
