Heffernan Insurance Brokers has acquired Really Great Employee Benefits, a San Fernando Valley employee benefits and insurance compliance firm. Financial terms of the deal between RGEB, in Canoga Park, and Heffernan, in Walnut Creek, were not disclosed. Chief Executive Barry Cohn, Renee Glickman Cohn and Lloyd Ettinger, both executive vice presidents, have joined Heffernan’s operations. Cohn said he was happy to join his company, which was founded almost 25 years ago, with one that shares the same values when it comes to customers, staff and charitable endeavors. “RGEB has always focused on doing the right thing for its clients, employees and community,” Cohn said in a statement. “We are excited about the expanded opportunities that will be afforded to both our clients and our staff as a result of this merger.” Heffernan was started in 1988 and has grown into one of the largest independent insurance brokerage firms in the U.S. It has offices throughout the western U.S. and in the United Kingdom. Chief Executive Michael Heffernan said he was excited to have RGEB join his company and serve its clients and their employee benefits needs. “Their core values align seamlessly with our own, and their breadth of experience will be a great addition to our team,” Heffernan said in a statement.
