Cast & Crew Acquires Live Theater Payroll Accounting Firm

Cast & Crew has acquired Checks & Balances Payroll Inc., a payroll services firm to the live theater industry. Terms of the deal between the Burbank payroll and HR provider for the entertainment industry and Checks & Balances, in New York, were not disclosed. Checks & Balances uses web-based software to simplify payroll processing with automated tax payments, multi-state filings and state tax registrations. Some of its current clients include Broadway and touring productions of “Hamilton,” “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” “Wicked” and “The Band’s Visit.” Eric Belcher, Cast & Crew chief executive, said that Checks & Balances makes a perfect fit for the company’s strategy and culture. “The company has an outstanding reputation for supporting the live theater industry via high-quality solutions and deep-domain expertise,” Belcher said in a statement. Checks & Balances founder Sarah Galbraith will continue to oversee the live theater operation.
