State Farm Closing Westlake Village Operations

State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. is closing its office in Westlake Village at the end of next month, resulting in the loss of 69 jobs. The layoffs are effective as of Nov. 30, according to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the state Employment Development Department on Oct. 3. The company’s lease at the operations center at 1 Baxter Way ends at the end of the year, said State Farm spokesman Sevag Sarkissian in an email to the Business Journal. State Farm, based in Bloomington, Ill., is also closing offices in Roseville and Vallejo that will result in an additional 155 employees losing their jobs. In Westlake Village, the positions eliminated include claim processors, claim service assistants, auto claims representatives and claim team managers. “State Farm is gaining efficiency through streamlining and improving processes, leveraging technology, and concentrating employees in larger locations, such as our hub offices in Atlanta, Dallas, Phoenix and our corporate headquarters,” Sarkissian wrote in the email. “Some employees accounted for in the number provided in the WARN letter may find other employment within the company if they choose.”
