The WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks basketball team and LegalZoom.com Inc. have signed a partnership that will help empower, celebrate and uplift women-led small businesses.
The partnership will help launch the second round of LegalZoom’s “Fast Break For Small Business,” a grant program focused on women and LGBTQ+ business owners providing $6 million in grants and services to small businesses nationwide. According to Glendale-based LegalZoom, which provides online legal documents and services, it is the company’s first professional sports team partnership.
Together, the team and company will launch “Small Business Champions,” a local campaign in June where LegalZoom will provide free products, legal services and education to entrepreneurs to help them start, grow and operate a small business.
“We couldn’t be more excited that our first professional sports partnership is with the WNBA’s LA Sparks,” John Buchanan, chief marketing officer at LegalZoom said in a statement. “Working with a team that is dedicated to supporting their community and women-led small businesses right here in our backyard is an honor.”
Shares of LegalZoom closed Tuesday down $1.43, or 10.6 percent, to $12.08 on the Nasdaq, a market that closed up nearly 1 percent.
