THQ Expects Lower Revenues in Q1

Poor sales of its UFC Undisputed 2010 game has resulted in THQ Inc. lowering its revenue guidance for the first quarter. The Agoura Hills-based video game publisher had expected sales in the range of $190 million to $200 million for the quarter ending June 30. The company has reduced that amount to $155 million to $165 million. A stronger U.S. dollar also contributed to the lower guidance. The company is disappointed in the financial outlook but moves forward to bring quality games to the market, said President and CEO Brian Farrell. There had been strong retail and consumer demand for UFC Undisputed that resulted in 2.6 million units being shipped. “Unfortunately, total sell through to date has been below our expectations and prior-year results,” Farrell said. “We will continue to drive demand through a strong marketing campaign and by working with our partners at the UFC.” Mark R.
