Teledyne Adds Underwater Vehicle with Acquisition

A subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies Inc. has acquired the Iceland-based maker of an underwater vehicle used for scientific, commercial and defense purposes. The terms of the deal between Teledyne Benthos Inc. and Hafmynd ehf. Hafmynd were not disclosed. The acquisition broadens the underwater offerings from Thousand Oaks-based Teledyne, said its Chairman, President and CEO Robert Mehrabian. The Gavia autonomous underwater vehicle complements other Teledyne underwater products, such as the Slocum Glider and the MinoROVER. “Teledyne intends to maintain a presence in Iceland with a focus on AUV research and development, testing and service, as well as providing support for other Teledyne Marine businesses,” Mehrabian said.
